Angel - The Complete DVD Collector's Edition

Submitted by doughnut on May 13, 2006 - 12:53am.

A few weeks ago I took the plunge and picked up the complete Angel series, all 5 seasons in the one lil' box. Yeah, I know... Everyone here hate's Buffy/Angel, but meh. When have I followed the crowd (for long)?

It'll take me awhile to get through all 5 seasons, being that I only manage to watch a couple of episodes a night. Doesn't matter, it will keep me entertained for a long time.

They Aim To Misbehave

Submitted by doughnut on November 30, 2005 - 4:37pm.

Huzzah, Serenity DVD has a release date... Unfortunately it's over a month after it's released in the US. The Australian release date is February 8th, while the US release date is December 20th.

The good news about the wait is that we'll get unique content that the US release won't have. That's a great thing, but I'm still not sure why we have to wait so long to get it. Oh well.

I will be picking it up the first day it's released though.

Scrubs Season 2 DVD

Submitted by doughnut on October 2, 2005 - 12:56pm.

Season 2 starts off right where the first season ended. With Jordan revealing some of the secrets that those in the hospital have been keeping from each other.

This season, we see the people we're familiar with growing emotionally, each in their own way. Turk and Carla contemplate getting married, Jordan comes back into Dr Cox's life as she has a baby, Eliot is left to her own income as her parents cut her off, JD continues to find the place he wants to be at with his career and personal life.

The season is very strong with some hilarious episodes, and dramatic ones that once again leaving you hanging for the next season.

The features are similar to that in the season 1 DVDs, some are even cut from the same interviews but are edited so they're focused on season 2 episodes only. There's two on the first three discs though none on the fourth to. The commentaries are as entertaining as season one's, as the creator (Bill Lawrence) talks with a different actor each time.

I've said to before, but here it is again... A second Scrubs soundtrack needs to be released. The first one has music from seasons 1 and 2, but it misses out on some great songs.

"i can't get to sleep, i think about the implications..."

Submitted by doughnut on September 21, 2005 - 9:16pm.

Huzzah, Scrubs season 2! Strangely enough, it won't be released until November 15th in the US. Oh well, I've still got it now. I guess my re-watching of Buffy is put on for awhile.

Season 2 starts off right where the first season finished. Jordan Sullivan (Dr. Cox's ex-wife) has proudly announced everyone's little secrets. Dr. Cox is in love with Carla and Turk knows this, Elliot is still in love with JD, and that Jordan and JD slept together.

When I finish watching the season, along with all the extras, I'll write up a review-type thing just like last time

Scrubs Season 1 DVD

Submitted by doughnut on July 18, 2005 - 4:45pm.

I'm a big fan of the TV series "Scrubs". I enjoy the comedy side of the show as much as I enjoy watching the stories and experiences of the 3 young doctors the shows revolves around. No need to into detail about the show, why would you be reading a review of the DVD if you hadn't seen the show before?

Four discs come in the case, seven episodes each disc, except for the last which has three episodes. There's even a handy "Play All" button on the main menu. Each disc has one or two commentaries. I would have preferred more commentaries, but that's just me.

The last disc features the extras. I'm a big fan of extras on DVDs. The more filler they can squeeze in, the better. As long as it's entertaining content. Included are the fairly standard out-takes and deleted scenes. The interviews with numerous cast and crew members are interesting and presented well. They do single out Zach Braff with his own feature. I would have preferred to see more interview time with Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid) and Donald Faison (Chris Turk) but what's included is interesting and worth watching.

The last extra I'll mention is "Favourite Moments". Which is a collection of cast and writers talking about their favourite season 1 episodes. It's interesting to hear their reasons why they pick the episodes that they do and I hope they continue this with the future DVD season releases.

If you're a fan of the show, this DVD is definitely worth the purchase. Though it does leave you with a feeling of wanting more. As of yet, there's no word on when season 2 will be released.
