life

What did I do today? Lets see...

so long, and thanks for all the fish

A few days ago, we had a party for Taylor as on Monday next week, he'll be on his way to begin his life in the Navy, well at least the next 6 years. And good on him. He's found something that he wanted to do, and is going for it. Unfortunately for his friends, that involves packing up and leaving the state. That's the unselfish look at it.

Oh, sure he'll be back whenever he gets time off. But that will only be once or twice a year, so I'll be loosing a good friend. That's the sappy way of looking at it.

When you don't see someone on the regular, a lot of things can change. Especially when the other person is going through a big change in their lifestyle. Of course we'll keep in touch via email, or the odd phone call, but that's not the same as sitting down and having a beer or three with a mate.

Well... Enjoy the gallery of the whole event. Some pictures are NSFW.

ooo, bubble wrap!

At 8:51AM, my fancy new hard drive arrived. Installed with no problems, and with my iPod plugged in I now have 215.7GB of space.

my entire 60GB drive was cloned to the new one, and works flawlessly. I'll probably leave the 60GB untouched for a week or so to make sure the new drive is working fine (I have no worries about it though), then I'll zero it.

I've told people to pass the current poll around to everyone because I want to see it hit 50 votes. But I have doubts it will get that many votes.

Nothing else to say right now, so this will do.

What was that noise?

In this magical land where some of us just never get a break, my computer's hard drive has developed what is known as the "click of death." It's a problem that is common with IBM DeskStar series drives. Where the drive will develop a click that is quite different to the normal seek sound. It's got something to do with a chip overheating and lots of bad sectors forming, and once the problem occurs the drive could really die at any moment.

So, in an effort not to be without a computer and be absolutely bored at home I've ordered a 160GB HD that should arrive this week. So, until my original drive dies, I'll have 220GB of space.

Taylor's shipping off party is this Saturday, it should be a great event. Hopefully I can get a bunch of pictures of the whole she-bang before I get too drunk. ;)

My sister might be showing up for awhile too, so I might see if she can bring the video camera and get some footage, and I'll throw together a quick DVD of footage and pictures. Just for something more permanent to remember the whole event.

where are my pants blah?

Time for another fancy-post-thingie where I jump around to random topics. Because everybody likes those.

First off, Gary's House of Wacks has moved from it's earthlink address to a new webwonks.org address. That links page of mine has been updated with this as well.

How about a forum for this place? Open for anything and anyone... Or would I be the only one posting to such a forum? I should probably fix the log in problem first, so that people can stay logged in for more than one visit.

na na na na na na pictures!

Pictures from the weekend away are now up!.

22 pictures... Not quite the 81 that I took, but these are some of the best ones that show the area off.

They're also a little out of order, but that's not really important.

i brought another shell home

A weekend away is always a good thing. But when you can organise it so a few friends can come as well, it suddenly becomes a great thing. This the 30th of July till the 1st of August will certainly be a weekend that I'll remember for a very long time.

There was not a moment when the six of us were bored, as we always found something to do. That would be just talking, a movie... Or opening the first of the drinks around 1PM because we just wanted to get an early start.

And never have I been introduced with two strangers, then continued to get on really well with both of them. Tim and Nicole are good people. Now that's rare for me to say.

Now... Onto the weekends activities, and for those that don't know, click "read more" to read more. :P

feel the undertow inside me

Huzah!

After many updates last week, I appear to have strayed away from this place again. But fear not, it is I - again.

How about how one of those updates where I just jump around to random things again? Everybody seems to love those. Well, even if you don't. Here goes...

don't cross me again, bitch

11 long nails.
5 washers.
5 nuts.
4 small bolts.
3 small screws.
1 large bolt.

That was the running total of things that the bitch next door has thrown into my pool. Until today. Now add:

1 smashed glass jar.

omg guess what bbq

For all those that were yelling at me, puncturing my bike tires and throwing stones at my mother's car (pft, none of that happened... Dramatic sounding though, right?) - The smileys are back!

With the new statistics thing I enabled on this site, I can see how many times each article (images included) has been viewed, and there was one major surprise over the few weeks this has been running. There's a certain image in one of the galleries that has been viewed substantially more than others. For awhile, I couldn't figure out why. Until I typed "cleavage shot" into Google. Now, the name of the image has since been changed to something more, uh... suitable. But you can now see why this image has been viewed so many times.

"That is the worst idea I've ever heard."

"Our high school guidance counselor used to ask us what you'd do if you had a million dollars and you didn't have to work. And invariably what you'd say was supposed to be your career. So, if you wanted to fix old cars you're supposed to be an auto mechanic."

That quote is from Office Space. Which helps to explain where this post is going...
