So, I did it...

Yeah... I went and bought a Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT. Even got the twin lens kit (18-55mm, 75-300mm) and a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II CompactFlash card. It was a lot of money, but at least I'll stop complaining about not having it now.

It's a big set up from my previous camera, as I now have many more control options, but there are a number of auto settings but I don't want to get tied down to those, I want to learn how to choose the settings myself. There's a very good site that has tutorials in using my exact camera, they're written well and I've already read a few of them.

iPhoto is slow when using the 4 megapixel photos from a friends camera, so I bet it will chug-a-long with the 8 megapixel images the Digital Rebel XT pumps out. I might have to look into another photo cataloguing program.

I had the idea to organise a hiking trip somewhere one day, just a day thing. Somewhere that would relatively easy going (though not paved walkways of course) as a day of exercise and photo taking. I guess I'll have to look more into it.

If I let myself think about it, I would like to sell some photos at some point. I guess I've got to take worthy photos first. Perhaps I'll frame some for myself first, start a collection on my own walls.

That is one sweet camera

That is one sweet camera dude. I'd love to pretend to be making this assesment based upon the series of letters and digits in the model number or maybe even regarding the number of millimeters of the lens, or perhaps some offhand comment about its appearance.

The truth is; I know this is a sweeeeeet camera because of all the incredible photos it is taking :)

The detail is AMAZING.
