Top Gear Australia

Submitted by doughnut on October 6, 2008 - 6:54pm.

Top Gear Australia is like a bit on a sketch comedy show - only there's no punch line and we are all left wanting the original back.

The characters are the similar in personality to the original UK version, the entire look of the show is the same as the original. Only... It isn't funny and it's not remotely entertaining.

The saddest part about Top Gear AU is that while it's being shown, we are denied the original UK version.

Someone please take it off the air and destroy any copies and production notes.

just because it works for Idol and big brother (for a while), and even Kath and Kim apparently... it doesnt mean that Top Gear needs to be localised.... mb original top gear would find success if they did a episode on cars fom each country.... not hard to do the aussie cars... what is there like 5 of them locally built?

They're not just doing

Submitted by doughnut on October 6, 2008 - 9:12pm.

They're not just doing locally built cars... They're doing other random cars as well. But doubtful they'd do many supercars as I don't think the vast majority of them are allowed into Australia.

i know theyre not just doing locally built....... but its locally based.... and that's meant to appeal to us more? i think not... maybe americans love american shit but we're pretty absorbant to all sorts of tv on this brown flat land....

Many "supercars" sure are allowed in the country... but the obscure ones dont get much lovin... you just choose from what's there...

I wonder if I can find the viewer numbers for the rest of the Top Gear AU episodes they're planning on airing. That way I can produce a fancy graph that shows how this show is a failure.

Producers had hoped to crack the one million viewer mark last night, but instead only 674,000 tuned in, down more than 250,000 viewers from its premiere the week before.

Autoblog review of Top Gear

Autoblog review of Top Gear AU...

We give the show a C so far and will continue watching (err, downloading) to see if it gets better. We hope it does, otherwise we won't have much to look forward to when our own Top Gear USA airs.
