Okay, yes I caved. I went out and bought a 40GB PS3.

My train of thought was that the 40GB offers no backwards compatibility so I could jump ship and get an Xbox 360. But I came to the conclusion that it's better the devil you know.

Yeah, 40GB is lame but apparently there's now support for external hard drives and it's not hard to replace the standard HD with something of a size that matters. There's even a panel on the side of the case that says to remove when changing the hard drive. Of course I won't be changing the HD for awhile as not all games load content onto the HD.

The games I got when I picked up the system are Motorstorm and Heavenly Sword.

Motorstorm is fun and when I finish it will be a real pick up and pass the time game. Especially some of the maps that are fast and involve a lot of jumps.

Heavenly Sword is great in some parts - the massive fights where you're taking on a dozen+ enemies - but other times, like the in game cutscenes leave you thinking if the game was rushed out the door. By this I mean the clipping of Nariko's hair. If you're going to give you're main characters enough hair to rival Repunzel at least pay attention to the clipping of her hair during the cutscenes. It's hard to describe apart from the fact that it is definitely an annoyance.

Of course, it's not a deal break.

Until God of War III comes out this hack n' slash will definitely suffice. Think of it as a similar game except for the amazing story and polished-ness of a God of War title. That doesn't make it bad. Just that it could be better.
