Well i tried it & it works surprisingly nicely, i can however confirm it fucks your records, especially going backwards.

It's pretty impressive that such a basic piece of hardware will work. It's also impressive because this basic hardware (records themselves) is still going to this day, albeit not as popular as they once were.

Its amazing how loud it actually is, you can easily hear it a couple of rooms away, spinning the record at a constant speed is a little tricky tho.
