My New Rig

Submitted by Full Stomach on February 6, 2007 - 1:24pm.

For those who may be interested,

Yes, yes indeed i have a new (gameing) rig, this can be confirmed by the owner of this site to be accurate and believable information. I bought all the parts on saturday morning, and built it starting at 12pm, and finishing about 3. I thought this was a good achievement considering its the first one i have done.

Specs:
Case: Antec Nine Hundred

MOBO: Gigabyte DS3P
CPU: Intel e6600
RAM: 2x1GB Corsair DDR2 667

Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTS (640Mb)

Power: Power Master iGreen 600W

HD: Samsung 400GB SATAII, nothing special there
CD/DVD Burner: LG something or other

I believe that is the most of it, i also got as periferal:

Mouse: Razor copperhead (blue)
Screen: 22" Chimei (wide)
Keys: Logitech G15

Things still remaining to do are...

+ Sort out cable clutter
+ Fix up the wireless card

Pictures may come later.

as a side, building this my self, i believe easily saved at least 1g. havent checked all the prices of stuff at other shops, but either way i think i came out ahead.

Update: 30/05/2007

Here are some pictures finally. the specs have changed slightly since the first post. I now have another monitor, and the HD space is 900Gb.

cable clutter is gone thanks dude for the help, and Wireless cards is sweet, though still crap.

Just on the hardware, not the peripherals, I calculated a price of $2280.

Submitted by Full Stomach on February 7, 2007 - 10:17am.

Thats actually fairly close, though was that adding up the lowest static ice prices? For the power supply and the case i think i might have payed a bit more then i needed to. but hey.

now that i think about it, that might even be a little bit more. Ill check the recipts.

Submitted by doughnut on February 7, 2007 - 3:12pm.

No, that wasn't lowest prices on staticice - it was lowest price from a respectable store - most from Skycomp, actually.

Well, it couldn't be tests

Submitted by doughnut on September 20, 2007 - 10:26am.

Well, it couldn't be tests based around the video card as they aren't really comparable - Yes, mine would be weaker.

But we could certainly do some CPU tests, show how a two dual core Xeon 5150 "Woodcrest" 2.66GHz procs stack up again yours. Happy
